What happens during a dental smile analysis?

The first part of your appointment will be with a member of our front office team, usually a trained nurse, who will have an informal chat with you over a warm or cold drink in our private consulting room. They will ask you about your medical history and medical conditions, or any medication you are on. This information may affect the treatment we offer. They will do a smile analysis for you to understand what, if any, changes you would ideally like to make about your smile. They will also go through our membership plans, the payment options we have, and answer any questions you may have.

Following this, your dentist will meet you and accompany you to one of the treatment rooms to do a comprehensive examination and make a treatment plan for you. The dentist will do a thorough examination of your jaw joints, soft tissues, teeth and gums, and take any necessary x-rays required to diagnose dental disease. They may often take photographs inside your mouth, or of your smile. Sometimes we take impressions of your teeth to help us make a full assessment of your teeth. The dentist will then put all this information together, and in consultation with you, work out the best treatment plan for you.

In exceptional cases, for complicated treatment, it may be necessary to arrange a further consultation visit before we are able to produce a treatment plan for you.

We understand, it is important for you to be clearly informed of the treatment we are proposing, the choices you have, and how much the investment in your treatment is going to be. Our commitment to you is that we will explain these to you in plain English and address any queries and concerns you may have. We confirm all treatment plans in writing, setting out the likely
costs, payment stages and planned appointments in advance, so that you can be well informed before agreeing to your treatment plan.

Often, we break your treatment plan into three phases:

First, we tackle pain and disease.

Then we carry out any preventative work needed to arrest risk of further deterioration.

And finally we address cosmetic dentistry.
How do I know if I have tooth decay?

White spots on the surface of the tooth may be an indication that your tooth enamel is beginning to demineralise; a precursor to tooth decay. Other symptoms you may feel. You might be in pain, or suffering from tooth sensitivity. Bad breath can also be an indication.
What should I do if my gums are bleeding when I brush my teeth?

Schedule an appointment with us to have your gums evaluated. Our dentist will be able to determine the cause of the bleeding and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
Why are my teeth sensitive?

One of the most common causes of tooth sensitivity is exposed dentin, which is the layer beneath the tooth enamel. When dentin is exposed, it can cause sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweet foods and drinks. Exposed dentin may be the result of tooth decay, or teeth grinding and clenching. If you’re concerned about tooth sensitivity, please make an appointment to come and see our dentists.
How do you support nervous dental patients?

We create a calm and welcoming environment in the dental office and all of our dental staff have been trained to support nervous patients. Our dentists will provide clear explanations of all procedures and offer options for pain management.
Do I need to be registered with your dental practice to receive emergency dental treatment?

We understand that dental emergencies can happen to anyone, regardless of whether you are an existing patient or not. Our priority is to provide prompt and effective dental care to those in need. If you are experiencing a dental emergency, please contact our practice as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate you.
